Austrocephalocereus

Austrocephalocereus: (Backeb.) These cacti come from Brazil and have also been put into (Micranthocereus-Backbg.) and (Siccobaccatus-Braun & Esteves 1991) They are very beautiful and develop a cephalium later. They can be hard to grow for beginners. Exotic type cacti best grown in smaller pots so they can dry out quickly.

Austrocephalocereus/Siccobaccatus estevesii: (Buin.& Bred.) HU432 E. Campos Belos. Extremely beautiful

Austrocephalocereus albicephalus: (Buin.& Bred.) HU348 Mato Verde 950m

Austrocephalocereus/Siccobaccatus dolichospermaticus: (Buin.& Bred.) HU395 Bom Jesus de lapa 460m. Cacti in this genus among the most beautiful in the world.

Austocephalocereus/Espostoopsis dybowski: (Goss.) HU160. The consensus is currently that this plant is rather different from the other species and that the genus Espostoopsis may be justified.

Austocephalocereus lehmannianus: (Werd.)(Backbg.) Bahia Serra de Espinhaco. Brownish long spines, shortly columnar, white flower petals. cactus received from James Pickering AZ

Austrocephalocereus purpureus: (Gurke)(Backbg.) HU 133, S. Bahia, spines yellow. Tall growing plant with red flowers. A. purpureus & A. lehmannianus are probably ssp. of each other
